Updates and News 2015 (January to June)

First Ottawa Native Plant Garden Days weekend is announced!

The Friends of Petrie Island, Canada Wildlife Federation, Fletcher Wildlife Garden and the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority are jointly participating in the first Native Plant Garden Days over the Father's Day weekend (June 19 - 21) in conjunction with Garden Days Canada.  This collaboration will provide an opportunity for the public to visit four native plant gardens in Ottawa and learn more about wildlife gardening.  The diverse gardens provide a variety of experiences from natural landscaping, backyard flower gardens and wildflowers in a more natural setting.

Rout/e Poetry Installation Weathered the Elements

Last fall five poems were installed outdoors at Petrie Island as part of the Rout/e "Poetry Found in Place" press.  The poets featured were: David Groulx, Roland Prevost, Pearl Pirie, Sandra Ridley, and Blaine Marchand.  These signs survived the winter season and can still be found on Petrie Island along the Turtle Trail, Bill Holland Trail and the Fern Walk.
