Flore + Faune is a multi-disciplined collaborative organization that focuses on the new and growing field of biophilic cities.

Katherine Forster (Principal of Flore + Faune) has been engaging with urban nature since 2001 when she helped care for rescued wildlife in the west end of Ottawa.  She became involved in various urban ecology projects including the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority's Urban Stream Monitoring Program, the Bird Studies Canada's Swift Monitoring Program and Fletcher Wildlife Garden's Backyard Gardening. In 2011, she co-founded the Ottawa Urban Wild Tours with Julie Hong and went on to work at various nature-based organizations in Ottawa where she ran nature tours and events for Friends of Petrie Island, created maps and helped organize the Spring Birding Course for Ottawa Bird Count and launched the Native Plant Garden Days in 2015.

For many years, Katherine has written extensively in both a sustainable lifestyle blog entitled Heartfelt (2007 - 2014) and in an online urban ecology scrapbook entitled Dandelions and Concrete (2010 - 2017).  She collaborated with Laura Pfiefer to cross-post her D&C work at Regina Urban Ecology (2012 - 2014) and has been published in Spacing Ottawa and Peace & Environment News (2016, 2017).  She also writes creative "Nature Rambles".

Currently she writes about urban nature appreciation at Wild. Here. (2016 - 2018) which is a side project of Flore + Faune.  This project is a collaboration with her partner Viliam Glazduri who is one of the main photographers of the blog.   Resources to help people connect to nature in the city will be offered through Wild.Here. in the upcoming year.

Katherine graduated from Fleming College's Ecosystem Management two-year program in 2013 and has an undergraduate Regional & Urban Planning, Environmental Studies degree from University of Waterloo.
